Tonight is the Senior Prom for American Fork High School. This story starts a month ago when boys started to think about who they wanted to ask to the dance. Courtney was very excited when her cousin called her and told her that boy#1 wanted to ask her to the dance but he was not going to do it for three days(not smart). Three days later a friend called and let Courtney know another boy(Colton) was going to ask her. She really wanted to go with Colton, so she told her friend to tell him to hurry and ask. We then went to a movie for FHE. Courtney spent the whole movie under her coat texting her friends about the Prom dilemma. who would ask first and could she get boy #1 to not ask her. We returned home to a pinata on our porch. With it was a note that said "I am bursting to go to prom with you."
Now to find out who it was from Boy #1 or Colton? Lucky for Courtney it was Colton. She was on cloud 9 the rest of the night.
Now on to the Dress search. To make a long story short nothing was cute or modest and they wanted over $300 for many of these dresses, then you had to fix them. David and I told Courtney we would pay half of her dress. We soon realised that making it was the best option. Grandma Thompson stepped in and made Courtney what she wanted. It was so reasonable we paid for the dress and Courtney paid for the necklace and shoes. We got the better end of that deal. Here is my favorite photo of the pair tonight.
Courtney always looks good. I think Colton is still on his best behavior. He is not comfortable being to close to my daughter. They started their day date at 10:45 this morning. They went to the Mall and did a scavenger hunt. When Courtney got back she gave me the highlights.
They are going to prom with another couple. Courtney's second cousin Emma. Emma and Courtney are opposites. Courtney is timeless and classic. Emma is bright and loud. Emma also made her dress. She made it our of duct tape. Her date Rain also has a suit out of duct tape. It is so Emma.
They couldn't look more different but somehow it works. I can't wait to hear how the night goes.
